Laura Alvarado has been with the Texas Diversity Council (TXDC) since May 2010 and is responsible for all communication and marketing efforts across the Texas markets as well as for the National Diversity Council (NDC). This move was of no surprise to anyone as she has always shown a passion for diversity and community outreach. She is a strong advocate for education and the advancement of women as she leads several youth and women’s initiatives throughout the Texas and other NDC markets.
She has more than 15 years in corporate management experience ranging from retail, telecommunications and staffing. Prior to the TXDC, she was a Technical Recruiter for Teleworld Staffing, a WBE staffing firm. She was focused on maintaining the partnership as a vendor to her former telecommunications employer, AT&T. As a preferred vendor, she was responsible for all areas of training for Business & Consumer Markets as well as Construction & Engineering for all of AT&T national territories. Prior to that, her role with AT&T ranged from a Bilingual Service Representative, Consumer Instructor, Instructional Designer, to a Project Manager in Operations for the Southwest Business & Consumer Markets.
Additionally, she continues to maintain her advisory positions with AT&T Employee Resource Groups, which support the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion through their efforts in the workplace, the marketplace, and the community. There she served as a Regional President for HACEMOS-Hispanic/Latino Employee Association of AT&T for three years. She also continues to be an active member of CommunityNETwork (African American Telecommunications Professionals of AT&T). Laura also serves in various other organizations as she pursues a degree in Public Administration and currently part of Leadership Houston, Class XXX.
